We, at Lystloc, have conducted back-to-back webinars since the beginning of 2024 related to field workforce management. We started with a strong motive to educate business owners and professionals about the necessity of field employee tracking and how it can help improve their productive performance.


So far, we have conducted three successful webinars with hundreds of participants, and more are upcoming. We solely focus on each participant’s higher productivity achievement in their respective profession as well as business growth on a broader spectrum.


With this dedication, we used this webinar to properly take stock of real-time hurdles, assess productivity management, and determine ways to make it even better.


Recognizing the Hurdles of Field Force Management with Our Attendees

The program kicked off when our host at Lystloc, Miss Punam Mukherjee, welcomed the guest, Mr. Saikat Kar, who was super thrilled to be part of the event. He introduced himself as the senior sales manager at NoBrokerHood, where they provide one-stop solutions for societal communities, including visitor management, service, and staff monitoring, and an accounting management system.

He emphasized that managing a team of field employees involves end-to-end processes from lead generation to follow-ups, numerous meetings, and various steps of deal closures. While tactfully managing these processes, they faced a lot of issues, which he pointed out as follows:


  • Tracking attendance 
  • Locating employees 
  • Delegating tasks
  • Delays in receiving client visit updates
  • Communication gaps
  • Inaccurate reporting

He elaborated on these points one by one and shared how difficult it is to know when field employees are starting and completing their work, whether they are working the expected hours, and if they are genuinely in the field after posting a picture or selfie in the morning for attendance.


Another challenge they are troubled with is tracking the exact location of employees throughout the day. He mentioned that constantly asking for live locations would create trust issues between the employees and management.


Following this, the bigger challenge, the communication gap, creates obstacles as it slows down their business process. Mr. Kar’s concern is inevitable here, as he mentioned that if they don’t know an employee’s current status—whether they are stuck in traffic or in a rainy situation—it’s hard to communicate and share important information.


Going forward, this impacts day-to-day task delegation. He shared that if we find a lead who’s interested in talking about our products or services, it’s good to assign the task to the employee who is near the lead’s location.


But at the same time, it’s not suitable to call, message, or WhatsApp multiple employees to find the right person for a task, especially when the field employees find themselves in poor network conditions. Therefore, an unorganized task assignment process further increases their employees’ travel time and reduces productivity.


That’s not all. Mr. Saikat pointed out the loopholes related to delays in getting updates on client visits and receiving reports with inaccurate data. He said that at the end of the day, employees often miss out on important details while updating their activities, leading to inaccurate reports, which worsens the structured pipeline.


Last but not least, he highlighted the importance of having accurate live reporting data on their field employees, such as distance traveled for reimbursement, attendance, leave and working hours for payroll processing, and other field visit data related to clients and delivery.
